Stress and fertility
Research has shown that hypnotherapy for infertility doubles the success of IVF treatment. Researchers in Israel found that 28% of women in the hypnotized group became pregnant compared to 14% of those who were not hypnotized.
This research study of 185 women was presented to the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology conference in Berlin. The researchers aimed to discover whether hypnotherapy for infertility could make the embryo transfer stage of IVF more successful.
During this stage, the embryo is transferred into the womb. However, if the womb is contracting, it can affect the chances of the transplant being a success. The research found that hypnotherapy for infertility did seem to greatly increase the chances of becoming pregnant.
IVF fertility treatment tends to be a stressful time, but stress can have a blocking effect on fertility success. This is why a woman will often become pregnant when they stop trying. Trying causes stress and prevents the very thing you are aiming to achieve.
Sleep is a natural process of the body but it’s when you stop trying to sleep that you are more likely to fall asleep. So it is with pregnancy.
Changing Negative Thoughts Are Key
There’s an obsession with ‘Am I pregnant? Am I going to get pregnant? What cycle day am I on? What’s my basal body temp?’ It’s all women who want to get pregnant think about. It gets to the point that the pleasures of intimacy and getting pregnant become calculative and chore-like.
All that thinking can stress out a woman. If pregnancy does not happen immediately, some women convince themselves they can’t get pregnant. Stress reduction and change of old thought patterns
There is a definite link between the hormones released in the brain and decreasing a woman’s ability to release an egg.
There’s a 35 percent diagnosis of unexplained infertility, which means there’s no physical cause for it. These days more medical doctors believe in and sometimes encourage alternative therapies like hypnosis or acupuncture because they seem to take a lot of the stress out of baby-making.
Through hypnotherapy for infertility sessions, we reprogram your mind. If the need arises, we then delve deeper into your subconscious mind and, through hypnotherapy, unveil any self-sabotaging patterns standing in your way to getting pregnant to full-term.
Then there’s the mind-body connection. When you learn to put your body in homeostasis – in balance – your reproductive system works more smoothly.
Your subconscious mind controls your bodily functions, including hormone production. One aspect of hypnotherapy is that it helps you deal with your emotions, including those hidden parts of yourself that might have doubts or worries about parenthood.
One theory about the increase in fertility when couples adopt is that it’s more than relaxation – the simple fact of being a parent overcomes those tiny insecurities that have interfered with the complex reproductive system.
